The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kintampo North, Mr. Isaac Donkor, has advised candidates sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to avoid all forms of examination malpractices in order to prevent their papers from being cancelled.

The MCE, who gave the advice when he visited all eight examination centres across the municipality, also urged the candidates to remain focused, adding that the questions were set from what they have been learning in their respective classroom.

He charged external invigilators and supervisors to stick to their role and avoid unnecessary intimidation which may put fear in candidates and eventually lead to their failure.
Meanwhile, about 2,316 candidates registered for this year’s BECE. Out of the figure, 1,138 are boys while 1,178 are girls, drawn from various public and private schools in the municipality.
Speaking in an interview, Public Relation Officer for the Kintampo Municipal Education Directorate, Mr. Isaac Sosito, revealed that, only 2,313 candidates showed up for the exams, adding that, “five of them are pregnant while six are nursing mothers”.

On his part, Kintampo District Police Commander, Supt. Steven Abanga, in his brief address also cautioned invigilators against aiding candidates to engage in exam malpractices.
He referred to Act 719 of the criminal code to justify his claim stressing that, any invigilator found culpable of the offense shall be made to face the law.
