MCE counsels BECE candidates over exams malpractices

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kintampo North, Mr. Isaac Donkor, has advised candidates sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to avoid all forms of examination malpractices in order to prevent their papers from being cancelled.

The MCE, who gave the advice when he visited all eight examination centres across the municipality, also urged the candidates to remain focused, adding that the questions were set from what they have been learning in their respective classroom.

He charged external invigilators and supervisors to stick to their role and avoid unnecessary intimidation which may put fear in candidates and eventually lead to their failure.

Meanwhile, about 2,316 candidates registered for this year’s BECE. Out of the figure, 1,138 are boys while 1,178 are girls, drawn from various public and private schools in the municipality.

Speaking in an interview, Public Relation Officer for the Kintampo Municipal Education Directorate, Mr. Isaac Sosito, revealed that, only 2,313 candidates showed up for the exams, adding that, “five of them are pregnant while six are nursing mothers”.

On his part, Kintampo District Police Commander, Supt. Steven Abanga, in his brief address also cautioned invigilators against aiding candidates to engage in exam malpractices.

He referred to Act 719 of the criminal code to justify his claim stressing that, any invigilator found culpable of the offense shall be made to face the law.

KINTAMPO: Agric department takes delivery of motorbike

The Kintampo Department of Agriculture has received Apsonic motorcycle and branded curtains from WAAF Agro Limited to support the activities of Agriculture in the Municipality.

This short but colourful ceremony which took place at the Kintampo Municipal Assembly premises saw all stakeholders of the department of Agriculture, retired Agric heads, staff of veterinary unit, agricultural extension officers and well-wishers present.

Addressing the gathering, the Municipal Director of agriculture, Mr. Eric Kontorma, express his gratitude to WAAF Agro Limited for the kind gesture generous to support the Kintampo Municipal Department of Agric.

He added that the move will go a long way to support the timely delivery of Agricultural technologies to their major stakeholders along the agricultural value chain.

He stressed that WAAf’s support will not only aide timely delivery of Agricultural technologies but also make significant impact on extension delivery activities in the Kintampo Municipality, Bono East Region and the nation at large for agriculture development.

He commended them for the confidence reposed in them adding that the department looked forward to working closely with WAAF to help improve agric production in the municipality.

“We are grateful for your support and look forward to continuing our work together”, he ended.

On his part, the Municipal Chief executive for Kintampo Municipal Assembly, Isaac Donkor, expressed his appreciation to WAAF Agro Limited for their timely support towards agric production in the country and seized the opportunity to call on other cooperate bodies and institutions to emulate same.

He pledged to ensure that the motorcycle is used for the right purposes, adding that the Assembly will ensure its regular maintenance to enable it last longer.

Madam Esther Mensah, branch manager for WAAF Agro Limited Kintampo who could not hide her excitement over the warm reception pledged more collaboration between WAAF and the assembly.

Meanwhile, some products of WAAF in the market include glyphosate type Waafosate, Afuowura, Waafking powder, Waafking liquid, Knapsacks, Agyenkwa sprayer, Agyenkwa powder sprayer, and Waaf seeders.

Kintampo Municipal Assembly School Feeding Workers On Health Screening

Kintampo Municipal Assembly organized Medical screening for all cooks and caterers who as employed to take care of Ghana School Feeding Programme in the Municipality.

The screening exercises is expected to last for Two days, at the Kintampo Municipal Assembly hall.

Health workers from the Kintampo Municipal Hospital came to undertake the health screening exercises, which consist of Tuberculosis, Typhoid fever and hepatitis B virus, according to an interview with the head of the team, Mr. Ibrahim Batong Halidu, disclose that, these three test the workers are expected to undertake are the most common in the Municipality and can easily be transmitted.

An interview with Mr. Alhassan Mohammed coordinator for the school feeding program at the Kintampo Municipal Assembly, revealed that, fourth seven (47) schools in the Municipality benefits from the Ghana School Feeding Program, with forty- seven (47) caterers, ninety-four (94) cooks, each school two (2) cooks.  Which means one hundred and forty-one (141) workers are expected to go through the health screening exercises in the Kintampo Municipality.

Kintampo Municipal Celebrates Eid-Al-Adha

The people of Kintampo Municipal Assembly was not left out in this year’s Eud- Al-Adha celebration which toke the whole world wild.

The colorful ceremony which normally bring Muslims dressed in their best dresses meet to pray together for God’s blessing on man king. Muslims all over the municipality this year group together at four places to observe their Eid-Al-Adha payer; Kintampo Senior High School Park, LA school park Etu-bondi house park and CEC School Park to pray for blessing.

The Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) for the Kintampo Municipality, Mr. Isaac Donkor with some party executives visited all the prayer centers to give our Muslims brothers and sisters a good will massage from the president of the Republic of Ghana John Dramani Mahama.

Mr. Donkor spoke to the Muslims in the municipality importance of Eid-Al-Adha celebration as an important event in the Islamic calendar which involve sacrificing animals to signify thanks giving to Allah and to save as food to mankind.

The Municipal Chief executive reminded Muslim celebrating Eid- Al-Adha festival not forget living together with love, unity, peace to bring development to the communities, towns and a country at large. And reminded them of the reduction of the dollar which would will improve lives of Ghanaian citizens and development “

Mr. Donkor on behalf of the president of the Republic of Ghana John Dramani Mahama express how important Muslims are dear to NDC government which was the reason Haji fairs were reduce and more reduction would take place by next year, adding another holy day to their festive season, introduction of Zongo development fund to develop our various Zongo communities and educational infrastructure in those areas.

Mr. Isaac Donkor talked on the importance of Technical, Vocational Institution which the government want to pay more attention too.  He then called on parents to enrolling their children into the Kintampo Vocational School.

He informed the youth of the municipality to enroll and register themselves into the national entrepreneurship programme which is under way by the NDC government.

Conclusion Mr. Isaac Donkor MCE advised the youth of the municipality on drugs abuse most especially, “red”, tramadol weed, and so on. He added that, “stay away from abusive substance which would affect you our feature leaders”. He then asked family’s and community leaders to talk to the children/youth.
