MCE for Kintampo Municipality Visits Zoomlion Cleaning Points

Mr. Isaac Donkor, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kintampo Municipality visited all Zoomlion Vantage Cleaning points in the Municipality to see how the cleaning activities are ongoing after the President of the Republic of Ghana announced it would not be renewing the sweeping contact with the Zoomlion Company after its expiration.

he reason for this visitation was to get the total number of Zoomlion workers who are still at post working for the municipality since January 2025 after the news.

In a brief discussion with them, the MCE wanted to know the total number of workers who are still at post and to see how the municipality can pay them from January to June and to select the hard working ones for employment at the Municipal Assembly.

The workers visited were very grateful for the good news from the Municipal Chief Executive in their interaction with him.

They used the opportunity to outline some challenges they are facing such as tools for working, uniforms, and tricycle to enable them work proactively in the Municipality.

They also appealed to the MCE to help communicate with the President of the Republic of Ghana to pay salaries owned them by the previous government.

Areas visited were; the municipal daily market, STC ward, Ntankoro Station, Tamale Station, the weekly Market and Babator and other communities.

Balkono Family donates grotto to the Kintampo Saint Joseph Catholic Church

The Catholic Bishop of Techiman Diocese, Most Reverend Dominic Yeboah Nyarko has dedicated the ‘Our Lady of Peace Grotto’ at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Kintampo.

The facility which is a donation from the Balkono family of Kaleo in the Upper West region is in memory of their late mother Elizabeth Mwin-Zimbu Balkono who passed away on December 12, 2021.

Mother Elizabeth as she was affectionately called was a devout catholic who served the church for several years culminating in her initiation into the Christian Mothers Association on the 7th day of June 1986.

The woman of faith also encouraged one of his sons, Reverend Father Samuel Balkono Nabare now based in Austria to take up priesthood in the church.`

Delivering the mass, the Most Reverend Yeboah Nyarko lauded the Balkono family for the gesture adding that God will reward them appropriately.

He urged others to emulate their example by supporting God’s work in whichever way they can.

The parish priest, Reverend Father Alex Chandy admonished the parishioners to go beyond taking pictures at the grotto and make it a place of prayer so God will meet their needs.

Present were members of the Balkono family as well as other associate priests.

Field day at Adumano on Climate Smart Agricultural practices

Field day at Adumano on Climate Smart Agricultural practices demo field. the Crop Research Institute in Fumesua carried out farmer training on Climate Smart Agricultural practices to help mitigate the impact of climate change on agriculture. Different varieties of maize were planted. Also yam and cowpeas were planted. Various cultural practices were carried out along with the farmers.

THIRD (3RD) ROUTINE DRAINS CLEANSINGS CAMPAIGN EXERCISE

The Assembly labourers in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Citizen of Kintampo were involved in third (3rd   ) quarter of routine drains cleansing exercise, lorry parks and in the two (2) markets.

The market women, drivers and the general public are advised to desist from littering and rather               deposit their waste in the domestic waste bins

Landlords/ladies are advised to request for domestic waste bins to prevent indiscriminate    dumping of household refuse.

Wastes collected are sent to the communal containers, so that the skip truck and compactor transport them to the final disposal site.

There is spillages in most of the communal container sites due to breakdown of the skip truck, long delay of refuse attendant and monthly allowances delayed.

This morning, 1st June, 2023, on behalf of the Municipal Assembly and the good people of Kintampo, Hon. Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw received some items meant to help improve the sanitation condition in the Municipality.

The items which included; dustbins, rakes, brooms, shovels and disposable bags were donated by Mr. Samuel B. Agyapong a native of Kintampo based in the United States of America.

The Municipal Chief Executive expressed his sincere appreciation to him and appealed to other natives and philanthropists to come to the aid of the Kintampo Municipality.
