The Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit in collaboration with FDA team from Sunyani embark on routine inspection in the Wednesday market and arrested expired products like coke, tin tomatoes, shippers, Fanta etc. and disposed them with media in order to prevent food poison.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Kintampo North Municipality Hon. Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw inspected the ongoing pavement works at the Kintampo Mighty waterfalls.
The project is aimed at beautifying the waterfalls which will in effect boost tourism in the Municipality.
The Kintampo-North Municipality is blessed with iconic tourist attractions backed with a rich history and promoting and developing them is one of the key ways the Municipal Chief Executive through the Central Government intends to use to boost the economic growth of Kintampo-North.
As Ghana marks its 66th Independence Day Anniversary, on the 6th of March, the Kintampo Municipal was not left out of this year’s celebration which was a colorful parade at the College of Health and Well-being Pack on Monday Morning.
The parade which was commanded by the Personnel’s of Kintampo Municipal Ambulance and Ghana Fire Service saw School children drawn from twenty-five (25) Primary Schools and twenty-five (25) Junior High schools, Two (2) Senior High Schools including a community Development Vocational Institution, Municipal security forces, Natlas, Garages, Red Cross Association, were all present at this year’s independence parade.
The parade also drew spectators from all walks of life and ages. With school children highly visible at the ground, Mr. Baffoe also touched on the education sector in the Municipality which has seen improvement and called on stakeholders to support and congratulated Kintampo Senior High School for their excellent performance in last year’s WASSCE.
The Municipal Chief Executive reminded the people that our strength would come from resilience, determination and hard work as Ghanaians; we should remain steadfast, committed to growth and development despite the many obstacles we face as a country.
He entreated Nananom to genre their efforts and focus on creating a better future for Ghana and embrace the theme. He then encouraged teachers, parents, assembly members, religious leaders and all stakeholders to direct their individual and collective efforts in fighting drug abuse which has become prevalent among the youth.
The MCE mentioned that the government has initiated several flagship projects to promote the development of the country such as the one district one factory (1D1F), which initiative is to promote and establish Ghanaians and giving them jobs despite our challenges as a country.
He said the theme “OUR UNITY, OUR STRENGTH, OUR PURPOSE” was chosen to consider achievements and strides sectors such as Education, Health, Energy, Youth Employment and the Economy have made.
Madam Esther Ottah the Municipal HIV/AIDS Coordinator used the occasion to educate the public on HIV/AIDS in the municipality, our behavioral intervention, the Municipal state of HIV/AIDS, HIV/AIDS being real, we should be bold and get tested now and so on.
Play out were displaced by children with the inscription; Be faithful to a partner, do not use needles used by someone, choose less risky sexual behaviors, you can’t get Aids if you aren’t infected with HIV, Prevention is better than cure, don’t inject drugs etc.
The Dagaaba community in Kintampo and the Balkono family have honored two persons for their support towards the development of the community in both Kaleo in the Upper West region and Kintampo in the Bono East region respectively.
Mr. Kwaku Dasaah Dominic popularly known as ‘bishop’a Dagaaba and Madam Regina Heitzinger from Austria were installed development chief and queen respectively during a ceremony at Grumaline a suburb of Kintampo.
Naa Jacob Asilem Korbieh who deputized for the Dagaaba chief in Kintampo said the honor is in recognition of the immense contributions of the two persons to the development of the welfare of the community.
The newly installed development chief who is also the Kintampo North constituency chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress is known for his public spiritedness exemplified in the way he supports the community both financially and materially.
Madam Regina Heitzinger is known for her philanthropic activities for the past seven years impacting positively on the community at both Kintampo and Kaleo.
She has made corn, rice and shea butter milling facilities available to the community at Kaleo and provided 10 boreholes at Kintampo to ensure the supply of potable water to the people.
To create job opportunities for the youth, Madam Heitzinger has helped establish a plumbing shop as well as an animal farm producing pigs, sheep, goats and poultry in Kintampo.
She is also reputed to have facilitated the provision of medication to treat various ailments for community members.
Through her industry, a hospital project at Kintampo is far advanced whiles plans are in place to add a mortuary facility for the benefit of the people.
A citation presented to Madam Heitziger read in part “this honor is in sincere recognition and appreciation of your support and benevolence towards the well-being and development of the Dagaaba community in Kintampo. Your high sense of humor and soft words always bring hope and soothes the heart of the hopeless and depressed. You are indeed a beacon of hope for the Dagaaba community”
Reverend Father Balkono Samuel Nabare based in Austria and through whose instrumentality Madam Heitzinger got related to the community, asked Dagaabas to unite in order to be able to fight together to achieve their common goals.
The Member of Parliament for Kintampo North, Hon. Joseph Kwame Kumah advised the people to live in peace and unity since that is a very important requirement for development.
Present were members of the community in Kintampo and beyond who displayed rich Dagaaba culture to the admiration of all.
