The Kintampo Municipality was not left out in the celebration of this years’ International Day of the Girl Child.  The Municipal held its celebration at New longoro a community under the Kintampo Municipal Assembly under the theme; “GIRL’S VISION FOR THE FUTURE” organized by the Municipal Education unit.

The Colorful program which stated with drama, poem recitals and flout through the principal streets of New longoro saw a lot of Girls from different schools of the municipality with their coordinators who grace this important and educative program.  Sanitary pads, books and cash was donated to schools and coordinators who organized the program.

The Presiding Member of the Kintampo Municipal Assembly Mr. Dawuda Mohammed who delivered an address on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw made it known to all the students gathered “Girls are very important to our society’s development and they should study hard for they are the future and backbone of our country” He said. Now a days men would like to marry a women who cannot manage a home without little educational back ground which will have an impact in the development of their children in future. He again stated that they should be responsible in their lives in other not to bring teen age pregnancy to burden their parents”.

Mr. Mohammed added that,  looking at the world today, women has contributed to the economic and socio development role of the world, so they should cultivate the habit of taking some well educated women in our society as their role models such as  women lawyers, politicians, directors, teachers and so on.

In conclusion “due to the importance of the girl child education, the President of the republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo introduced the Free Senior High School for all Girls to attend without excuses of no having money for school fees..
